3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA uses 3M Microreplication technology; micron-graded silicon carbide is formed into tiny pyramids and evenly coated on a non-compressible polyester backing. Sharp, consistent cutting action makes this abrasive great for final finishing.
Fine Sanding and Finish of Painted surfaces
Available in three grades -- A3, A5, and A7 -- 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA abrasives are color coded to reduce the risk of error when there are multiple grades in a sequence. Each disc is designed for quick access and attachment to orbital or random orbital sanders. This disc is the clear coat spot repair disc that is used by automotive manufacturers worldwide.
Designed to Repair Automotive Finishes
We chose silicon carbide mineral for this abrasive, because, while it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it tends to produce a finer finish. It's commonly used on clear coats, paint and plastics, because it can effectively sand these surfaces without significantly gouging or damaging the workpiece.
3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Film Disc 466LA features tiny, sharp pyramids that wear gradually during sanding, continually exposing fresh mineral to give you a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish.
Attached. Clean and Easy.
The 3M™ Hookit™ hook-and-loop feature makes disc attachment, removal, and re-attachment clean and easy, and facilitates re-use of the disc for the full extent of its abrasive life. The brushed nylon loop backing attaches firmly to J-shaped hooks on the disc pad (sold separately). The Hookit™ system is designed for work spaces and applications where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris.
For use with 3M™ Nib Removal Sander (PN 28737) or 3M ™ Mini Random Orbital Sander (PN 20244).
3M™ Science. Precision Finishing by Design.
3M™ Trizact™ abrasives use 3M Microreplication technology, encapsulating mineral inside tiny pyramids. These pyramids are evenly and electrostatically distributed over the backing. While conventionally coated abrasives often have erratically spaced mineral, Trizact™ abrasives focus on uniformity. As pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is exposed to produce a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish. Altogether, this means fewer scraps and discards as a consequence of inconsistent results. Ongoing sharp cutting action minimizes the need to incorporate other abrasives in the sequence, thereby reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity.
In addition to high-performance abrasives, 3M Microreplication technology is also used in the manufacture of a variety of 3M products such as overhead projector lenses, reflective traffic signs and solar optical films.
- Proprietary 3M™ Trizact™ abrasives start sharp and stay sharp, resulting in more predictable finishes and improved, consistent results
- Discs provide easy leveling of minor clearcoat imperfections
- Repair minor clearcoat defects, such as dust and minor scratches
- Ideal for the 3M™ Finesse-It™ two-step paint defect repair process for automotive finishes
