Good for Light, Low-Pressure Applications
Because of its superior conformability and responsiveness to surface irregularities, the Scotch-Brite™ PD Surface Conditioning Disc is a good match for soft and oily metals that may be damaged by an overly rigid or aggressive cut. While open web is a desirable feature that characterizes all of our Scotch-Brite™ products, the PD Surface Conditioning Disc has an exceptionally spongy, flexible open web. It is especially load resistant, so debris won't clog the disc or wear down the abrasive mineral right away. Our versatile Scotch-Brite™ Discs, such as PD, SC, SE or SL, are differentiated from each other based on their suitability for specific applications. Some discs are stiffer and more durable, so they're a good match for heavy-duty applications like grinding and blending. Conversely, some discs are more flexible and conformable, so they're a good match for low-pressure applications like polishing and finishing. With its increased loading resistance, our Scotch-Brite™ PD Surface Conditioning Disc is a good match for light grinding and low-pressure blending, as well as decorative finishing. It's also a great starting point for low-pressure cleaning.
Hook-and-Loop for Easy Tool Attachment
Our Scotch-Brite™ PD Surface Conditioning Disc uses a Hook-and-Loop attachment. 3M offers a complete line of Hook-and-Loop style discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. These discs conveniently and firmly attach to a Hook-and-Loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and be used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.
Scotch-Brite™ PD Surface Conditioning Disc responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance and extremely long service life.
