This version of the syringe barrel adapter includes a filter trap inline with the hose that connects to a fluid dispenser's air output. The filter trap is needed when dispensing low-viscosity to watery fluids. It acts as a barrier between the fluid being dispensed and the dispense controller should fluid get sucked into the fluid dispenser if a vacuum setting is set too high.
